The Project
A magazine of listening.
Canada has stories to tell, and CANARTA is here to listen. Throughout the year, the portraits of Canadian artists are published online. At year's end, the strongest of those stories are deepened and gathered into a print edition of at least eighty pages, printed on art paper. We do not review art — we sit with artists, and we write down what they say.
Each portrait is built in three parts: The Person, The Work, The Process. A life, a piece of art, an atelier. We are looking for artists whose work has not yet been seen the way it deserves to be — across every form, in every province.
You deserve a story and a stage.
— CANARTA's promise, to every artist

CANARTA's editorial team chooses each portrait independently — but the Artist Portal is open to every Canadian artist who would like to be part of the network. Throughout the year, portraits are published online. At year's end, the strongest stories are deepened and gathered into the annual print edition.
Whether or not your story appears in print, your work is held in the network. The portal opens with the first edition.
